The walk

Denton Wharf to Woolsthorpe Wharf is about two and a half miles each way on a surfaced towpath, past Denton Bridge and Vincent’s Bridge (both original and listed), the Harlaxton Cut and the restored Woolsthorpe Wharf Lock. Turn round at the Dirty Duck, or go on to Willis Lock and the top lock.

Eastwards, the towpath runs three quiet miles to Harlaxton Bridge and then into Grantham, where the last two miles are urban and the guide recommends pavements. A permissive path from bridge 65 leads to Denton Reservoir. Anglers use the banks — keep dogs from the water near them.
