Livestock may be grazing — keep dogs on a lead near animals and follow signs.
A short loop round the reservoir that feeds the Grantham Canal, reached through a wood from Casthorpe Road or by the permissive path from canal bridge 65 — a two-mile circuit popular with dog walkers and birdwatchers.
From Casthorpe Road head north through the wood to the reservoir and follow the bank round; the Grantham Canal Society’s walk continues east along the towpath before returning. The reservoir was built to hold 60 million gallons for the canal and is a good place for waterfowl. Paths are earth and grass and hold water after rain.
